  • 1 week stay at Pastor Veronicas ocean villa. You can visit the website athttp://veronicafreites.blogspot.com

Beginning students will be allowed catches on regular trips with LM or CPM supervising (not doula only trips )as long as hospital staff and USA Midwife are comfortable with your skills and behavior.

Remember we are there for training and to also to be a blessing to them. Not to judge or confront how they do things.  For an example of the type of environment you will be working in; IVs are done on all women, labor/PP rooms have 8-15 ladies per room on average, etc.

New students will do 4 handed catches with LM or OB.

Advanced students can do catches on their own under supervision as preceptors are comfortable with your skills.

We are not garenteing any certain #s of births but will choose hospitals and locations in an effort to get you the greatest number of experiences possible.

We are not applying for NARMS certafication for catches as its not close enough to USA homebirths. However, you can count them for active participation and can get other skills signed off (newborn exams, etc).  Remember this is not USA homebirths . We are in a diffrent culture. There are few supplies. (please bring 2 trunks of 50 lbs each- weigh each one first so you dont go over the weight limit...please see notes below on what to bring in your trunks).  We are there to learn alot and also to be a blessing to the poor. We will probablly be doing some teaching to the staff, residents,Drs etc so if you can find any DVD's teaching in Spanish please let Lisa Know.

COST for trip including preceptors fees
    • $1050 2 weeks Reg trip with LM or CPM precepting
    • $525 1 week Reg trip with LM or CPM precepting

All money is due 1 month before trip so we can declare the trip a gp, get tickets, etc.  We need a minimum of 3 students to consider the trip, with a maximum of 8 students. Do not get tickets until trip is confirmed.

Pictures of previous trips can be seen in the resources section of the site.
